President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva met with the President of Angola, João Lourenço, on Sunday, November 17. The meeting took place in Rio de Janeiro, on the occasion of the G20 meeting, in which Angola is participating as a guest country. 

For Brazil, the meeting was attended by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, of the Civil House, Rui Costa, of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, and of Agriculture, Carlos Fávaro, in addition to the special advisor to the President of the Republic, Celso Amorim, and the executive secretary of the Ministry of Development and Industry, Márcio Elias Rosa. 

Lula and João Lourenço spoke about the closeness between the two countries and the strong historical relations. The Angolan president reinforced Angola’s identity with Brazil in the three main themes proposed by Brazil at the G20: the reform of global institutions, the fight against hunger and the energy transition. And also in the pharmaceutical sector. 

The two presidents also discussed support for the agricultural sector, especially family farming, and larger-scale production, with technical and seed cooperation. 

The presidents also spoke about cooperation and attracting private investment for the construction of transmission lines for industrial regions and energy integration with Namibia and South Africa.
